Blue Moon. From The Absent Music Series, 2006

Sergio Bazan

This artwork presents a striking portrait with a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Rendered in bold turquoise over a deep, textured maroon background, the face emerges with a spectral quality. The brushwork is vigorous, suggesting movement and depth, while the contrasting hues create an almost ethereal glow, highlighting the contours of the face. The abstract technique allows the viewer to explore both the recognizable features and the emotional undercurrents. The background's horizontal strokes add to the sense of motion, as if the image is caught between dimensions. This piece uniquely balances realism with abstraction, inviting viewers to delve into its multifaceted layers. Its bold color scheme and expressive form make it a captivating focal point in any setting.
