Description
Girls with Flowers
This piece captures the essence of pure joy and the beauty of nature through the depiction of three happy, joyful girls enjoying a lush garden of rose flowers. Created entirely from my imagination, this original oil on canvas brings to life the vibrant and lively atmosphere of a rose garden.
Inspiration
The beauty of nature and the myriad colors of the flowers serve as my primary inspirations for this artwork. The vivid hues and delicate forms of the roses, along with the carefree spirits of the girls, are meant to evoke a sense of happiness and tranquility.
Technique
This piece is crafted using a combination of techniques to achieve its unique texture and depth:
- Palette Knives: Most of the work is executed with palette knives, which allow for bold, expressive strokes and a dynamic, textured finish. The impasto technique created with the knives adds a three-dimensional quality to the flowers and the surrounding foliage.
- Direct Color Tube Application: In some areas, I applied the paint directly from the tube. This method adds intensity and vibrancy to the colors, creating a striking contrast with the more blended sections.
- Finger Painting: I also used my fingers to manipulate the paint, adding a personal and tactile element to the artwork. This technique helps blend colors seamlessly and creates a soft, organic feel that enhances the natural beauty of the scene.
Composition
The composition of "Girls with Flowers" is designed to draw the viewer into the joyful world of the girls. They are positioned in the midst of a sea of blooming roses, their expressions and body language conveying a sense of playful delight and contentment. The rich, layered textures and vibrant colors create an immersive experience, inviting viewers to share in the simple pleasure of a day spent among the flowers.
Emotional Impact
Through this artwork, I aim to convey the timeless beauty of nature and the carefree spirit of childhood. The harmonious blend of colors and the lively interaction of the girls with their environment are meant to evoke feelings of joy, nostalgia, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Presentation
Anand Manchiraju is an Indian artist whose multidisciplinary practice blends painting, photography, and experimental techniques. Influenced by his artist father, he began painting in childhood and later studied at JNTU. His work explores themes including nature, spirituality, daily life, and the human figure. Anand employs oils and acrylics on canvas, as well as unconventional materials such as bromide paper and x-ray film, using photographic chemicals to develop what he terms “photo-paintings.” His style spans impressionistic and abstract modes. Over his career, he has produced thousands of artworks and held numerous solo exhibitions across India. He also served as President of the Andhra Academy of Arts for over 30 years, promoting artistic engagement in the region. Anand’s practice continues to evolve through constant experimentation with mediums and materials, reflecting his commitment to innovation and exploration across traditional and contemporary formats.
