Description
The landscapes of Egor Plotnikov are partially forgotten, gathering from fragments and pauses. These "ordinary" landscapes allows us to become co-creators for the paintings by completing the white parts with our own memories. The memories are giving very personal meaning to typical landscapes and are transforming the non-place to a place, but only on the viewer’s mind.
This particular canvas in made in the honor of the Great Cross procession in Velikoretskoe village. Egor has dedicated it to this amazing event, which has been happening every year for 600 years.
This is a procession of 6 days, this is the time that a person lives in a different reality, as it were, not even parallel, but perpendicular. People follow a very long path along an endless horizon, but in fact, for them it is a way from bottom to top. And the white bar is at the same time a segment of another reality and a vector.
Egor Plotnikov has depicted this event in which many thousands of people participate, without people, because they are in this real landscape, but in a different reality.
