Presentation
Jean-Pierre Rives, born December 31, 1952 in Toulouse, is a French rugby player and sculptor. A 1.80 m player, he played in the third wing position with the French team, with which he achieved two grand slams, in 1977 where the same fifteen players played all four matches, and in 1981. In club, it evolves with the Toulouse stadium then the Racing club of France. Retained several times within the Barbarians, he was one of the founders of the French Barbarians, created in 1979.
Jean-Pierre Rives subsequently became a renowned sculptor, having discovered the work of sculptor Albert Féraud in his workshop. In September 2007, on the occasion of the Rugby Union World Cup, the Rives sur Berges exhibition presented eight of his sculptures on the banks of the Rhône in Lyon.
He is also behind the design and production of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy awarded to the Latin winner (France / Italy) of the 6 nations tournament.
