Léa Dedieu

Reference to the sculpture The Thorn Shooter, dating from the 1st century BC.
Readapting a classic to the contemporary. Bright summer atmosphere, a body in gymnastics, which occupies the space of the canvas. The subject is not the character but a gestural performance, an everyday acrobatics.
Canvas inspired by a vacation scene where the artist's sister is his model.
The acrobatic position of the model, taken from life, is therefore a reference to the sculpture "The Thorn Shooter", in Italian Spinario. This statuary type representing a young boy removing a thorn from his foot is a classic. The best-known example is a bronze sculpture exhibited in the Hall of Triumphs of the Palace of the Conservators (Capitoline Museums) in Rome. Another of these sculptures is the emblem of the town of Epinal in the Vosges, called "Pinau", which watches over the eponymous square. Replicas of this statuary with Greek origins can be found almost everywhere in Europe.
Léa Dedieu likes to reappropriate the classics of contemporary art. She takes advantage of the summer to paint vacation scenes.
Each painting is made up of details that tell a story, and each color is chosen with care.
These paintings recall summer vacations and echo with happy moments spent with loved ones and tender vacation memories.
