Description
This artwork, a masterpiece of contemporary surrealism, commands attention with its vibrant and arresting visual storytelling. The central figure, surreal and otherworldly, is split vertically, with each half of its face reflecting a unique emotional intensity. The artist employs a bold and vivid color palette dominated by deep blues, fiery oranges, and warm yellows that contrast sharply, infusing the piece with dynamism and tension. The figure's eyes, wide and expressive, seem to tell a story of duality and introspection, each side mirroring a different facet of internal struggle. The intricately textured skin, with its intricate patterns and protruding veins, adds a palpable sense of depth and realism, grounding the otherwise ethereal subject. Upraised hands, marked by circular voids in the palms, evoke a sense of spiritual quest, emphasizing themes of seeking and inner reflection. These hands, though humanoid, appear almost otherworldly due to their exaggerated proportions and the unusual voids, suggesting an openness to the cosmos or an otherworldly realm. The background, a deep, cobalt blue, provides a contrasting calm that makes the central figure's bold colors and textures stand out even more strikingly. It serves as a void-like expanse, suggesting infinity, depth, or the vastness of the unconscious mind. The pedestal upon which the figure stands is rendered in muted earth tones, with abstract, geometric patterns that seem to connect the grounded material world with the ethereal, encapsulating the figure's complex existence between realms. Overall, this artwork challenges viewers to delve deep into their subconscious, presenting themes of duality, introspection, and the eternal quest for self-understanding. The detailed textures, coupled with the profound, enigmatic symbolism, ensure this piece remains memorable and thought-provoking.
Art pieces represents one's strong belief - Stigmata in Catholicism, are bodily wounds, scars and pain which appear in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ: the hands, wrists, feet, near the heart, the head (from the crown of thorns), and back (from carrying the cross and scourging).
Very powerful painting - rare piece by Oleg Zhivetin.
