Description
The enso ('circle') is one of the most meaningful symbols in Japanese Zen. The enso symbolizes a world of the spirit without beginning and end. The circle of enlightenment reflects a transforming experience. The symbol is perfectly empty yet completely full, infinite, shining brightly like the moon-mind of enlightenment. It is beautifully drawn with a dashed, fragmented, watercolour stroke under the enso. The monochromatic tone creates an element of rawness and truth to the artwork. Displaying this infinite symbol without strings attached. You can also combine more than one of these works together to make a more complete image of the enso.
Presentation
Born 1949 in France
Since 1992 in 'The Vietnam Years', Deplante had regular solo exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City with his “Vietnam Travel Journals" and in France at Bonlieu Scene National (Annecey) and the House of Indochina (Paris), Artpreciation (Hongkong), Eagle's Eye Art Gallery, and Artfolio (Singapore).
From a very young age, Deplante has been attracted to and inspired by Asia. From 1971 to 1974, Deplante worked as a director at an animated movie company with his wife, Tara. Between 1986-1987 they were in charge of decorating the interior of the First Himalayan Temple in Europe, the Kagyu-Ling (France). Since 1987, they were in charge of the production of many monumental settings,
installations and shows internationally. In 1993, Deplante opened his own Art Gallery with his wife in Ho Chi Minh City, which was closed in December 2019 when they decided to retire in France. In 2000 they opened a second gallery in Siem Reap (Cambodia – Angkor). Their artworks can be found in many private collections around the world. They currently live in France and collaborate with Tobian Art Gallery.
