Description
This stunning artwork features a deep blue circle on a white background, evoking the powerful symbolism of Japanese ensō. The intentional, fluid brushwork stands out for its simultaneous perfection and imperfection, capturing a moment of absolute freedom and personal expression. The vibrant blue hue is particularly striking, suggesting infinity and serenity, while the empty space within instills a sense of simultaneous fullness and emptiness. The brushstroke's imprint, visible in its textures, offers a direct connection to the artist's energy and presence, whose signature at the bottom adds authenticity. This circle is not only visually appealing but also invites introspective contemplation, resonating with Zen philosophy. The work manages to balance dynamism and tranquility, becoming a focus for meditation in its sublime simplicity.
Presentation
Born 1949 in France
Since 1992 in 'The Vietnam Years', Deplante had regular solo exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City with his “Vietnam Travel Journals" and in France at Bonlieu Scene National (Annecey) and the House of Indochina (Paris), Artpreciation (Hongkong), Eagle's Eye Art Gallery, and Artfolio (Singapore).
From a very young age, Deplante has been attracted to and inspired by Asia. From 1971 to 1974, Deplante worked as a director at an animated movie company with his wife, Tara. Between 1986-1987 they were in charge of decorating the interior of the First Himalayan Temple in Europe, the Kagyu-Ling (France). Since 1987, they were in charge of the production of many monumental settings,
installations and shows internationally. In 1993, Deplante opened his own Art Gallery with his wife in Ho Chi Minh City, which was closed in December 2019 when they decided to retire in France. In 2000 they opened a second gallery in Siem Reap (Cambodia – Angkor). Their artworks can be found in many private collections around the world. They currently live in France and collaborate with Tobian Art Gallery.
