Description
A deep indigo pagoda rises with monumental presence. The architecture dominates the canvas. Each curved roof points toward a shimmering sky. The palette vibrates between electric blue and stark white. This oil painting merges figurative precision with an almost calligraphic energy.
The composition breathes with the spirit of Indochina. Layers of textures suggest old manuscripts and forgotten maps. Subtle red accents puncture the cool tones. They act as visual anchors amidst a sea of sapphire.
The artist draws from decades of immersion in Asian cultures. This connection manifests in the fluid lines and spiritual geometry. An ethereal atmosphere surrounds the temple. It feels caught between a dream and a memory.
The foreground dissolves into abstract shapes and cryptic inscriptions. These elements evoke a sense of historical depth. The artwork balances structural stability with atmospheric chaos. It concludes with a series of rhythmic strokes and floating symbols at the base.

Born 1949 in France
Since 1992 in 'The Vietnam Years', Deplante had regular solo exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City with his “Vietnam Travel Journals" and in France at Bonlieu Scene National (Annecey) and the House of Indochina (Paris), Artpreciation (Hongkong), Eagle's Eye Art Gallery, and Artfolio (Singapore).
From a very young age, Deplante has been attracted to and inspired by Asia. From 1971 to 1974, Deplante worked as a director at an animated movie company with his wife, Tara. Between 1986-1987 they were in charge of decorating the interior of the First Himalayan Temple in Europe, the Kagyu-Ling (France). Since 1987, they were in charge of the production of many monumental settings,
installations and shows internationally. In 1993, Deplante opened his own Art Gallery with his wife in Ho Chi Minh City, which was closed in December 2019 when they decided to retire in France. In 2000 they opened a second gallery in Siem Reap (Cambodia – Angkor). Their artworks can be found in many private collections around the world. They currently live in France and collaborate with Tobian Art Gallery.
