Description
A bold red circle dominates the canvas. It pulses with energy. This sweeping gesture evokes the rising sun and Zen calligraphy. The oil paint creates a sense of depth and vibration.
Inside the ring, intricate textures emerge. Ethereal sketches and Asian motifs float in a golden haze. A dragon curls in the center. Its form is ghostly yet powerful. The background breathes with layers of scribbles and faded symbols. These elements suggest an ancient manuscript or a vivid travel journal.
Below the great orb, a solitary figure stands in quiet contemplation. The person leans over a fallen form. Their silhouettes are small against the cosmic scale of the red ring. This contrast emphasizes a feeling of fragility and spirituality. The ground dissolves into concentric ripples of red and orange. It looks like water reflecting a celestial fire. This artwork merges figurative precision with abstract emotion. It captures a profound dialogue between human presence and universal symbols. Born 1949 in France
Since 1992 in 'The Vietnam Years', Deplante had regular solo exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City with his “Vietnam Travel Journals" and in France at Bonlieu Scene National (Annecey) and the House of Indochina (Paris), Artpreciation (Hongkong), Eagle's Eye Art Gallery, and Artfolio (Singapore).
From a very young age, Deplante has been attracted to and inspired by Asia. From 1971 to 1974, Deplante worked as a director at an animated movie company with his wife, Tara. Between 1986-1987 they were in charge of decorating the interior of the First Himalayan Temple in Europe, the Kagyu-Ling (France). Since 1987, they were in charge of the production of many monumental settings,
installations and shows internationally. In 1993, Deplante opened his own Art Gallery with his wife in Ho Chi Minh City, which was closed in December 2019 when they decided to retire in France. In 2000 they opened a second gallery in Siem Reap (Cambodia – Angkor). Their artworks can be found in many private collections around the world. They currently live in France and collaborate with Tobian Art Gallery.
