Description
The artistic style of WawaPod oscillates between pixel art and modern pointillism, creating works that are both innovative and captivating. One of their distinctive techniques involves painting directly on glass within display boxes. This process brings remarkable depth to their creations through a combination of abstract backgrounds made with acrylic and a palette knife, and detailed visuals composed of small dots of paint on the glass.
This bold artwork features a stylized character, deliberately simplified through a pattern of colorful dots. A vibrant blue background frames a cheerful figure wearing a Santa hat, revealing a festive touch. Bright yellow hair contrasts with the pale complexion, creating a joyful effect. The green shirt and red bow tie add additional pops of color, highlighting meticulous attention to detail and palette. Holding a blue bag, the figure seems to embody a blend of contemporary art and pop art, cleverly playing on the notion of childlike innocence. The thick, textured frame adds depth, showcasing the artist's intent to transform a simple figure into a striking visual statement. This painting captures a playful and imaginative spirit, emblematic of modern and innovative techniques.
Presentation
Since 2018, Warren Podguszer, known under the pseudonym Wawapod, has immersed himself in the world of Pop Art and Street Art in Paris, developing a unique style that fuses geometry and popular iconography. His work is distinguished by the reuse of emblematic icons through accumulations of dots, paying homage to the history of art and to popular figures he admires.
In addition to its studio work, Wawapod intervenes in public spaces, notably by writing its message "hello love always" on city sidewalks, thus adding a touch of poetry and optimism to the urban environment.
One of the most fascinating aspects of his work lies in the creation of double readings. By superimposing images within the dots, he allows his works to reveal an initial abstract image that becomes figurative with distance. This visual game engages the viewer, pushing them to explore and discover different dimensions of the work.
Self-taught, Wawapod has built his own artistic path, developing a personal and innovative visual language through his painting. His journey is marked by a constant quest for expression and creativity, inviting the public to a rich and interactive visual experience.
