Description
I wanted to capture the poetry of movement and the call of the open sea.
This captivating work depicts three sailboats sailing on a rough sea, under a tumultuous sky. The artist uses a palette of deep blues mixed with touches of white and browns that give a dramatic intensity to the scene. The energetic and textured brushstrokes vividly illustrate the movement of the waves and the force of the elements. The sails, boldly raised, are accentuated by hues of red, introducing a striking contrast that immediately draws the eye. The composition brings a sense of freedom and struggle against nature, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in the vastness of the ocean. This work is remarkable for its dynamism and its ability to capture the essence of the raging sea, symbolizing both the beauty and the indomitable power of nature.
Presentation
Born in 1958, French of Armenian origin, Sylvie PULUR grew up in Marseille. After studying accounting in Paris, she rediscovered her passion for drawing and painting six years ago, after raising four children. Since then, she has devoted herself entirely to her art. A self-taught artist, she uses various techniques such as charcoal, graphite, ink, watercolor, pastel, oil and acrylic for her creations on canvas and paper. Her work is distinguished by a subtle play of color contrasts and emotions, inviting meditation and reverie. Her works are unique and imaginary, marked by significant periods of her life.
Sylvie PULUR's works reflect key moments in her life. The series "Les Marines" evokes her arrival in France by boat, with about twenty oil and acrylic paintings influenced by Ivan Aivazovsky's seascapes. Passionate about the Roaring Twenties and Art Deco, [he/she] also produced numerous sketches representing women of various origins, inspired by black and white photographs and the works of Tamara de Lempicka and Edward Hopper.
