Description
This captivating work depicts a face in close-up, rendered with soft, minimalist pencil strokes. The artist uses a striking contrast between the subtle gray of the sketch and the intense red tear escaping from the closed eye. This blood-red tear accentuates a profound sense of pain or sorrow, creating a powerful emotional impact. The simplicity of the lines and the restrained use of color emphasize the purity of the expression, leaving a lasting impression. The asymmetrical composition, with the face slightly tilted, adds a subtle dynamism, while the empty background highlights the intimacy of the emotion. This masterpiece invites the viewer to contemplate the silence and vulnerability we all carry within us.
Presentation
Born in 1958, French of Armenian origin, Sylvie PULUR grew up in Marseille. After studying accounting in Paris, she rediscovered her passion for drawing and painting six years ago, after raising four children. Since then, she has devoted herself entirely to her art. A self-taught artist, she uses various techniques such as charcoal, graphite, ink, watercolor, pastel, oil and acrylic for her creations on canvas and paper. Her work is distinguished by a subtle play of color contrasts and emotions, inviting meditation and reverie. Her works are unique and imaginary, marked by significant periods of her life.
Sylvie PULUR's works reflect key moments in her life. The series "Les Marines" evokes her arrival in France by boat, with about twenty oil and acrylic paintings influenced by Ivan Aivazovsky's seascapes. Passionate about the Roaring Twenties and Art Deco, [he/she] also produced numerous sketches representing women of various origins, inspired by black and white photographs and the works of Tamara de Lempicka and Edward Hopper.
