Description
This artwork depicts a vibrant scene of an outdoor parking lot. The bold, expressive strokes reveal cars lined up haphazardly, dominated by a bright orange truck. The contrast between the vehicle's vibrant colors and the surrounding dull landscape immediately captures attention. Two human figures interact in front of the truck, adding an intriguing narrative dimension to the scene. The palpable energy is conveyed by the quick brushstrokes and slightly muted colors, suggesting an overcast day. The treatment of the trees in the background creates an illusion of depth, perfectly framing the composition while directing the eye toward the protagonists. This painting brilliantly captures the simplicity of an everyday moment, while also prompting reflection on the banality and hidden beauty of ordinary scenes. The painterly style, simultaneously modern and classic, enriches the work with a captivating timelessness.
Presentation
Institut d’Arts Visuels in Orléans and the Bourges Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art, his works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows. In 2010, Cédrick Vannier was awarded the Claire Combes prize by the Fondation Taylor and his work entered the Fondation Collas in 2013.
The first important thing about Cédrick Vannier's work is the desire he has of taking over themes of classical painting like portrait, landscape, genre scenes or still-life... He is very influenced by photography and daily life is his main source of inspiration.
The spectator is lead to a simple imagery, to an ordinary landscape which doesn't claim the narration it assumes. Cédrick Vannier's goal is completly different. What the artist wants to say is that painting is an act, a fact, where figuration blends with the reality of the material and the pictorial gesture.
