Description
Strange position of this man in a straw hat, sitting on a terrace. Behind him, the bushes resemble aquariums from which strange, aerial algae escape. At his feet, two animals face each other: a cat indifferently observes an impossible opossum holding a chef's fork in its mouth. The tawny colors, the different shadows of the object, or the folds of the jacket that seem to join the vegetation in the background give the whole an unreal and dreamlike force. Technique of dozens of superimposed glazes. Signed lower right FsT XXIII. On the back, on the stretcher: "seated cat, FST 23".
Presentation
Born in 1952, FranSoisT paints and photographs. François Thiéry-Mourelet (for the civil status) signs his paintings "Fransoist" or "FsT". His works combine elegant women, powerful nature, dreams (or nightmares), cats, horses and gentle monsters. If the technique is classical (use of sfumato, verdaccio and glazing), the compositions are complex. The brushstroke, quick and oblique, superimposes natural or burnt earths (ochres, greens, browns, reds...) and blues. He also has a work as a watercolorist, illustrator of children's books and photographer. Since 1984, he has exhibited in Modena, Geneva, Cleveland, Thonon-les-Bains, Paray-le-Monial, Cachan, Saint-Ouen, Arcueil, Barbizon, Paris...
