Description
Sea lights at sunset in Brittany. Seen from the deck of a sailboat, an island, which could be Chausey, is reflected in the calm waters surrounding the reefs. The last rays of the setting sun seem to struggle with the rising mist. The lighthouse, a tiny white dot at the top of the island, and an approach buoy, a tiny red dot in the shadows, are the only landmarks to find one's way among the reefs and shoals. Unlike most of FranSoisT's other works, this canvas does not feature any figures or fantastical animals. In homage to Turner and Monet, the artist explored shades of blue and yellow, leaving the viewer to their daydreams. Signature lower right FsT XX. Presentation
Born in 1952, FranSoisT paints and photographs. François Thiéry-Mourelet (for the civil status) signs his paintings "Fransoist" or "FsT". His works combine elegant women, powerful nature, dreams (or nightmares), cats, horses and gentle monsters. If the technique is classical (use of sfumato, verdaccio and glazing), the compositions are complex. The brushstroke, quick and oblique, superimposes natural or burnt earths (ochres, greens, browns, reds...) and blues. He also has a work as a watercolorist, illustrator of children's books and photographer. Since 1984, he has exhibited in Modena, Geneva, Cleveland, Thonon-les-Bains, Paray-le-Monial, Cachan, Saint-Ouen, Arcueil, Barbizon, Paris...
