Description
In-depth study before the creation of the painting "The Pink Lionesses". This Study No. 2 is different from Study No. 1 in its organization, treatment of the subject, and dimensions.
A dreamlike composition is established here through an intertwining of organic forms. The brush, quick and oblique, superimposes warm and earthy tones. Ocher dominates the scene. It dialogues with shades of red and pink. Several prehistoric Venus figures overlap strange animals: rats, monsters, indefinables. Camie of pinks and ochres. This work, inspired by the lines and colors of prehistoric frescoes, is part of the series entitled "Cavernisme".
Hybrid silhouettes emerge from the light background. The line suggests faces and bodies with blurred contours. The gaze gets lost in these figures resembling fantastic creatures. This approach recalls the use of sfumato to create soft transitions between light and shadow.
The technique relies on work with glazes and successive layers. The artist mixes natural earths to give depth to the space. The visual rendering evokes an inner world, between dream and hallucination. The forms stretch and merge into one another.
The whole exudes a mysterious atmosphere. The contrast between the light areas and dark touches accentuates the relief of the characters. The surface is rhythmized by fine vertical lines evoking fibers or hair. The work ends with a discreet signature in the lower left corner.
The opportunity for a collector to acquire an original oil painting at the price of a print or watercolor. Canvas on backing board. Signature in the lower left. On the back, date and signature FranSoist as well as the artist's stamp.
The framing shown as an example in the photos (staged) is not included with the work.
Presentation
Born in 1952, FranSoisT paints and photographs. François Thiéry-Mourelet (for the civil status) signs his paintings "Fransoist" or "FsT". His works combine elegant women, powerful nature, dreams (or nightmares), cats, horses and gentle monsters. If the technique is classical (use of sfumato, verdaccio and glazing), the compositions are complex. The brushstroke, quick and oblique, superimposes natural or burnt earths (ochres, greens, browns, reds...) and blues. He also has a work as a watercolorist, illustrator of children's books and photographer. Since 1984, he has exhibited in Modena, Geneva, Cleveland, Thonon-les-Bains, Paray-le-Monial, Cachan, Saint-Ouen, Arcueil, Barbizon, Paris...
