Description
The young woman stands like Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. She is African, perhaps Malagasy, because a giant gecko comes to visit her. The landscape behind her, in the distance, is calm and misty. On the edge of the window hangs an astrolabe, an object that seems very real but, like the stairs or cubes of M.C. Escher, is impossible. The painting thus takes on a somewhat mysterious dimension.
Presentation
Born in 1952, FranSoisT paints and photographs. François Thiéry-Mourelet (for the civil status) signs his paintings "Fransoist" or "FsT". His works combine elegant women, powerful nature, dreams (or nightmares), cats, horses and gentle monsters. If the technique is classical (use of sfumato, verdaccio and glazing), the compositions are complex. The brushstroke, quick and oblique, superimposes natural or burnt earths (ochres, greens, browns, reds...) and blues. He also has a work as a watercolorist, illustrator of children's books and photographer. Since 1984, he has exhibited in Modena, Geneva, Cleveland, Thonon-les-Bains, Paray-le-Monial, Cachan, Saint-Ouen, Arcueil, Barbizon, Paris...
