Description
Irina BAST's Regal Elegance (60x60 cm, acrylic, gold leaf, semi-precious stones on canvas) is a radiant celebration of beauty, heritage, and identity. The portrait presents a young Black woman seated gracefully, her presence exuding quiet power and serenity. Her attire becomes a dazzling mosaic of semi-precious stones—carnelian, jade, agate, amethyst, amazonite, rose quartz, moonstone, aquamarine, malachite, turquoise—interwoven with rhinestones and layered textures.
Gold, silver, and bronze tones envelop the figure and background, echoing Byzantine mosaics and Gustav Klimt's golden period, while reinterpreted through a contemporary Afrocentric perspective. The floral motifs, ornamental richness, and jewel-like detailing transform the sitter into an icon of regal femininity and timeless strength.
With its gilded brilliance and profound symbolic resonance, Regal Elegance is more than a portrait—it is a visual tribute to cultural pride and the magnificence of Black identity, elevating the personal into the universal.

Presentation
Irina: "I am full-time artist. I find my happiness in doing art. Art is a part of my soul, my energy, my vision of the world. I consider myself a multi-faceted artist, I like to experiment with materials. I realized that I can create beauty not only with paints. I create three-dimensional artworks with volumetric elements. I work in two directions: mosaic paintings and wall sculpture art. I use decorative found objects, mosaic, plaster, wood, shells, crystals, gemstones, anything that can realize my ideas. My art is full of life and joy. The main theme is a Woman, her life, thoughts, feelings, relationships with people and the world".
