Description
The calm gaze of this woman immediately captivates the viewer. This figurative portrait, executed in oil in 2026, is distinguished by a hotly textured work. The paint is applied in thick layers, creating a tangible relief on the canvas.
The face, with earthy and warm tones, contrasts with the chromatic explosion of the head covering. Touches of turquoise blue, red, and yellow intertwine to form a dense floral crown. Each brushstroke asserts a strong physical presence.
The centered composition emphasizes the serenity of the model. The use of light sculpts the features with precision, highlighting the curve of the lips and the sparkle of the eyes. The neutral background, treated with sobriety, leaves all the room for the richness of the pigments.
The artist favors a tactile approach here. The transitions between colors are made frankly, without excessive blending. Subtle details are observed, such as the gold earrings which bring a discreet point of light to the sides of the face.
Presentation
I grew up in a family where art was predominant, but in a more recreational way.
My practice started with plastic arts, and changed after repeated visits to my aunt's old studio. The passion was born amidst tubes of oil paint, brushes, and turpentine essence.
I later discovered the world of the painter Pascal Cessou by spending some time in his studio and I took painting classes with Michel LHOTE.
In my artistic journey, I have done interior decorations in acrylic, pastel, and oil paint, today I mainly do oils on canvas.
My initial training is in a higher education course in design and architecture, a more technical approach to drawing.
I have been painting for about thirty years and since May 2026 I set up as Artist Painter 12 avenue Gallieni in Sanary sur Mer.
Women are the main subject of my art, even if I sometimes escape into other areas.
