The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Silence of trees and light of open spaces" invites the viewer into a moment of tranquility where the majesty of towering pines and the openness of the landscape converge in harmony. The composition reflects the profound stillness of nature, where time seems suspended, and the play of light across earth, foliage, and sky becomes a language of its own. With expressive brushstrokes and a bold, textured palette, the artist creates not merely a visual scene but a sensory experience, filled with the hushed dignity of trees and the liberating vastness of open skies. Dominating the scene are the tall, elegant trees standing as guardians of silence. Their trunks, painted in earthy tones with hints of fiery red and orange, rise with strength and vitality. The foliage is rendered in thick, vibrant strokes of deep green, accented with touches of lighter yellows and warmer shades, suggesting leaves catching sunlight or areas where branches thin to reveal the sky beyond. Each tree carries its own character, some slender and upright, others fuller and more enveloping, together forming a symphony of vertical forms that speak of resilience and rootedness. The ground beneath them, rich with earthy browns, golden yellows, and soft purples, adds texture and depth. Brushstrokes create the impression of uneven terrain, where patches of light fall onto soil, stones, and fallen leaves. The warm tones of the ground serve as a counterbalance to the cool blues and greens of the forest, giving the composition a rhythm that feels both dynamic and calm. It is as though the earth is bathed in late sunlight, with the trees casting elongated shadows that deepen the sense of time and place. Through the middle of the composition, the viewer's eye is drawn to an open space beyond the trees—a glimpse of light blue sky, streaked with wisps of cloud, suggesting distance and freedom. This light pours into the painting, contrasting with the density of the forest, and creates the impression of a threshold between enclosure and openness. The transition from the shaded forest foreground to the bright horizon evokes a sense of passage, as if one stands at the edge of discovery, ready to step into a broader, sunlit world.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
