The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “A walk through the city streets" invites the viewer into a scene that is both intimate and timeless, capturing the essence of human connection against the backdrop of an old town, where each stone, building, and pathway seems to whisper stories of generations past. The first element that strikes the eye is the set of stone steps that dominate the composition, ascending through lush greenery and guiding the gaze toward the whitewashed houses with their red-tiled roofs, glowing softly in the sunlight. These steps, uneven and textured, embody the symbolic “corridors of history" that the title alludes to, representing not just a physical passage but a journey through cultural memory and lived human experience. The figures, painted with graceful simplicity, are central to the painting's narrative. Two women, one in a flowing red dress and the other in a pale blue gown, descend the steps together, their postures suggesting companionship and quiet conversation. The red dress stands out vividly against the cooler tones of the scene, acting almost as a symbolic thread of life, passion, and continuity amidst the permanence of stone and architecture. Their presence transforms the ancient setting into something alive and immediate, anchoring the history of place within the continuity of human stories. Surrounding the figures, nature unfolds in vibrant strokes of green, with bushes and trees framing the path and softening the angularity of man-made structures. The interplay between vegetation and architecture underscores the passage of time—nature's resilience alongside human endeavor. The houses, with their red roofs and white walls, echo Mediterranean or southern European architecture, evoking warmth, tradition, and endurance. Their slightly weathered appearance suggests they have stood for centuries, bearing witness to countless footsteps on the same path. The light in the painting is tender and atmospheric. It bathes the scene in a warm glow, enhancing the vibrancy of the dresses, the earthy tones of the steps, and the cool blue shadows cast by walls and trees. The sky, painted in shades of blue with hints of deeper tones, sets a serene backdrop, reminding the viewer of the eternal passage of time that unfolds above human lives. The brushwork is expressive, capturing fleeting impressions rather than rigid detail, which lends the piece its dreamlike quality.
