Description
This striking work captures the peaceful moment when ripples form on the surface of a body of water. Each concentric circle, meticulously detailed, evokes a natural harmony. The color palette, dominated by shades of blue and silvery gray, accentuates the tranquility of the scene. The subtle reflections of light on the ripples add an almost ethereal dimension, transforming the water into a living mirror. The absence of surrounding distractions emphasizes the purity and elegance of the natural phenomenon, creating a sense of profound serenity. The artist demonstrates exceptional mastery of the interplay of light and color, capturing an ephemeral moment of quiet beauty and contemplation. This painting is an ode to the simplicity of nature, offering the viewer a meditative pause in an often chaotic world.
Presentation
Elise Barat is a French artist born in 1984. She lives and works in Haute-Saône. Graduated from the faculté des arts plastiques in Strasbourg, she has a Masters in Visual Arts and works for museum structures.
The artist's symbolic theme is water, she approaches this sparkly theme like a surface reflecting twisted reality. According to her, water is the mirror of the world: in her lake paintings, she blurs the bearings, and takes us towards the intangible, ambiguous and the fantastic.
Ethereal movement and transparency is the unifying structure of this young artist.
In her liquid paintings, the spatial bearings are blurry and reality overlaps onto one other.
"By focusing on the surface of water, I try mixing reality with its image, in short developing the so called real with its immateriality" says the artist.
Elise Barat has been exhibiting since 2007 mainly in France. She is permanently displayed at the Art Viva Gallery since 2015.
She mainly exhibited at ST-ART 2015 in Strasbourg, at the Biennale of Thann in 2016, the Grand Marché Contemporary Art Bastille in 2013, not to mention the Galerie Art Génération in 2014.
