This abstract work blends cartographic codes superimposed on the fluidity of painting. Acrylic paint is mixed with wood ash on a deeply textured support, composed of a collage of linen fabric layered over gesso enriched with olive wood shavings, thus offering a remarkably delicate aerial view. The painting evokes an icy landscape in a composition where contour lines simultaneously define terrestrial reliefs and ocean currents.
The upper section, in gray and white, suggests an aerial topography of an ice floe landscape, while the lower section plunges into deep, textured, and shifting blues, reminiscent of cold water and an icy environment. The scattered dots and lines create a tension between structure and spontaneity, between measurement and drift. The whole unfolds a poetic geography where the gaze oscillates between altitude and immersion, evoking icy territories in transformation. The use of symbolic materials such as wood ash and charcoal underscores the fragility of these landscapes in the face of climate change.
