Description

“Mettere un seme" by Luca Ledda is a 2025 acrylic on canvas (97 × 97 cm), created during the Pulpa Street Art Gallery at Aurum in Pescara, and part of the Urban Heroes collection. The work presents itself as a symbolic and highly evocative vision, in which the primordial act of planting a seed is transformed into an ambiguous gesture, suspended between creation and destruction.

At the center of the composition, a monumental hand tightly holds a small human figure, from whose head a delicate branch begins to grow, suggesting ideas of birth, transformation, and potential. However, this gesture does not appear gentle, but rather charged with tension: the figure seems compressed, almost sacrificed, while the seed of life emerges within a hostile environment. Surrounding the scene, an industrial landscape of smoking chimneys and rigid structures creates an arid and oppressive setting, where nature struggles to exist.

The chromatic contrast between the intense red background and the monochromatic graphic rendering in the foreground amplifies the sense of urgency and conflict. The precise, almost engraved line evokes an illustrative dimension that merges with a deeper conceptual vision, turning the image into a powerful metaphor for the relationship between humanity, nature, and industrial systems.

Through this composition, Ledda reflects on a paradox of contemporary life: the possibility of generating life and change often arises under conditions of pressure and control. “Mettere un seme" thus becomes a complex gesture, no longer innocent, but loaded with responsibility and consequence.

As part of the Urban Heroes series, the work identifies a new form of heroism—silent and fragile—rooted in the ability to generate, resist, and transform even within the most difficult contexts, where every act of growth inevitably implies tension with its surroundings.
