Description
This artwork depicts a sprawling urban landscape, bathed in warm, earthy tones. A central river slices through the bustling city, lined with iconic skyscrapers and architectural marvels. The brushstrokes are expressive, blending sharp lines with fluid motion to convey both the structure and vitality of the metropolis. Layers of rust and ochre dominate the canvas, creating a cohesive, atmospheric mood that suggests the glow of twilight. The composition is balanced yet dynamic, with bridges spanning the river, inviting the viewer to explore the city's depths. The artist's technique evokes a sense of motion and energy, while the limited color palette adds a timeless quality. This piece captures the essence of urban life, juxtaposing modernity with timeless beauty, making it a visually arresting and thought-provoking portrayal of contemporary cityscapes.
Presentation
Richard is a visual interpreter and artist fascinated by architecture and the interaction of people as shapes within their surroundings. Through a love of mark-making, he explores both a description of place and an abstraction of surface, continually experimenting with texture as a way of translating the world. His paintings, held in private collections across Europe, the Middle East, New Zealand, and the United States, often depict landscapes, cities, and people—capturing the essence of places he has visited. Using light, movement, and stencilled textures, Richard creates hazy, layered impressions that make each work entirely unique.
