A Dialogue Between Shapes, 2026

Samantha Malone

"A Dialogue Between Shapes" explores the relationship between form, space, and movement through a refined visual language of organic shapes set against a deep black ground. Off-white forms with subtle blue, mustard, olive, and purple outlines appear to drift, connect, and respond to one another, creating a sense of quiet conversation across the canvas.

Built through multiple layers of paint, the surface carries a subtle richness, with visible brushwork and texture adding depth beneath the simplicity of the composition. The interplay between positive and negative space allows each element room to breathe, inviting the viewer to consider not only the forms themselves, but the relationships that exist between them.

Medium: Acrylic paint on gallery grade Italian cotton canvas.

The black painted background has been extended by 5 cm on each side, allowing the edges of the canvas to be painted once the artwork is stretched and mounted onto a frame. Total canvas size is 178x133cm.
