Description
This mixed media artwork is a lambda c-print on fine art paper between dibond and acrylic glass . Ready to hang, combining painting techniques to create a photo-impressionist style. All works are the same and numbered 1/8 - 8/8.
Hereby some interesting words from an art critic on my works in one of the art-magazins.
In Geert Lemmers' work, painting manifests itself through restrained precision rather than excess. The composition is based on restraint: essential forms, controlled spaces, a conscious relationship between figure and void. Nothing is superfluous. Every element contributes to a rigorously constructed internal balance.
Technically, the treatment of the surface is crucial. The material does not attempt to dominate the form; it accompanies it. The deliberately limited color palette avoids an immediate effect and opts for a slow and attentive reading. This rarely emphasized aspect places his work in a temporal experience rather than a visual impact.
Beneath this apparent calm, a tension persists. The work does not describe; it suggests. It remains open and leaves the responsibility for its meaning to the viewer. It is in this intermediate zone that Lemmers' painting finds its depth and enduring quality.
Presentation
Geert Lemmers, free and liberal artist, Fine Photo Art, Painting and New Media.
Geert Lemmers was born in the mysterious Land van Maas en Waal in the Netherlands. His grandmother's stories about witches and secret societies have formed him as an artist.
He studied photography and photographic arts and worked as a freelancer for years making reportages and portraits for magazines and fashion photographs. After the digital revolution he could realize his dream by making art, the way he saw it. In 2008 Geert Lemmers won the professional art-price in his region and that was the start of a successful artistic career.
After years of collaboration with well-known painters, his possibilities only grew.
Geert Lemmers is interested in our world and in its cultural and sexual diversity. He works mostly project-based and his work is about "the world of people" as a sort of general research.
"The world of people is about men and women behind often beautiful looking facades in the middle of the chaotic universe we live in. I research the raw site of our lives represented as fairytales in a wonderland as a enlargement of our life. Enlarged characters in chaos, beauty and imperfection. In every new project I vary on this basic-entity."
Geert's works, however, are characterized [now that he is getting older] by an increasing need for abstract and highly simplified design, allowing more room for emotion and the mystical.
Geert's works are honored many times and his works were to be seen in several international art - magazines.
