Description
In Rebirth, Olena Sloboda transforms the idea of renewal into a luminous abstract composition. Delicate forms resembling petals, leaves and blossoms seem to emerge from layers of soft colour, creating a sense of movement and gradual awakening.
The palette combines creamy whites, warm yellows, blush pinks and cool blues. These colours interact across the surface to create an atmosphere that feels both fresh and uplifting. The blue passages are particularly important, introducing a feeling of openness and light that balances the warmth of the floral elements.
Built with expressive palette knife techniques, the painting possesses a richly textured surface that captures changing light throughout the day. Each mark contributes to a visual rhythm that suggests growth, transformation and natural energy.
Rather than describing a specific location, Rebirth evokes the emotional experience of new beginnings. The result is a work filled with lightness, optimism and quiet vitality.

Presentation
Olena Sloboda is a contemporary Ukrainian painter based in Lviv, whose emotionally charged abstract and semi-abstract works explore the relationship between color, memory, atmosphere, and inner perception. Originally trained in fashion design at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, she graduated with distinction and initially built a successful career as a fashion designer before turning fully toward painting - the artistic medium she describes as closest to her inner world and emotional expression.
Working primarily in oil on canvas, Sloboda creates stylized impressions of nature transformed through gesture, texture, and chromatic energy. Rather than depicting landscapes literally, she seeks to convey their emotional resonance and invisible presence through layered surfaces, rhythmic brushwork, and expressive color fields. Her paintings often exist on the threshold between abstraction and recognition, allowing viewers to form their own associations, memories, and psychological responses.
For the artist, color functions not only as a visual element but also as an emotional catalyst capable of influencing mood, memory, and perception. Texture and movement become equally important components of her visual language, creating works that are atmospheric, intuitive, and deeply sensory. Inspired by nature, silence, and fleeting emotional states, Sloboda describes her paintings as portals between the visible and invisible worlds - spaces where intuition and emotion take precedence over narrative certainty.
Olena Sloboda has participated in exhibitions and art projects in Ukraine and internationally, including exhibitions in Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Estonia, Canada, Poland, and the United States. Her practice continues to evolve through an ongoing exploration of emotional abstraction, color psychology, and the poetic relationship between human perception and the natural world.
