Original painting
A solitary beacon rises against a shifting horizon. The composition centers on a tall lighthouse with striking red and white bands. Its light glows softly. This luminescence pierces the twilight air. The sky transitions in a seamless gradient. Deep cerulean fades into warm coral and soft violet. These hues suggest the quiet transition between day and night.
The structure stands firmly upon a grassy plateau. Earthy greens and golden browns anchor the scene. A small white building rests at the base. Its simple geometry complements the verticality of the tower. The brushwork is precise yet atmospheric. It captures the stillness of a remote coastline. There is a profound sense of guidance and solitude here. The contrast between the warm sky and the cool shadows creates a balanced tension. Every line leads the eye upward toward the guiding light. The artwork evokes a feeling of timelessness and safety. It focuses on the architectural strength of the lighthouse against the ephemeral beauty of the sunset. The scene concludes with the tactile texture of the wild coastal grass.
Presentation
Ilona Shymchyts is an artist originally from the village of Mushkativka in the Borshchiv region. She received her education at the Lviv National Academy of Arts. Her works have been exhibited in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Borshchiv, and the L. Levytskyi Museum in Burdiakivtsi, as well as abroad - in Toronto (Canada), Poznań, and Toruń (Poland). The artist’s works are held in private collections in Ukraine and beyond, including the United States, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the Czech Republic. In her paintings, Shymchyts often combines realistic attention to detail with a soft decorative quality and a restrained color palette. Her works reveal a tendency to create quiet, meditative landscapes in which rural architecture conveys a sense of calm and a connection to her native land.
