Description
This abstract composition captures the raw energy of a coastal landscape. Broad strokes of cerulean and deep navy dominate the lower half. These cool tones evoke the depths of a churning ocean. The paint is applied with confidence. Thick textures create a tangible sense of movement.
A luminous white haze descends from the top. It suggests a misty morning or a crashing wave of foam. This brightness balances the intensity of the darker pigments. Small accents of ochre and gold emerge through the blue. These warm touches resemble sunlight hitting wet sand or distant cliffs.
The balance between light and shadow creates a profound atmospheric depth. The artist employs a spontaneous technique. Each layer adds a new dimension to the scene. The result is a harmonious dialogue between earth and water. The artwork oscillates between chaos and serenity. It draws the viewer into a meditative space. The piece concludes with a final, sharp contrast of deep indigo and pale cream.

Omar Obaid (b.1985) is an award-winning abstract artist based in London. After graduating with a BSc in Computer Science, Omar’s career took him on a different path. Formerly working for The New York Times. Omar has now been a full-time independent artist painting professionally for over 14 years, and he enjoys creating large-scale expressive original oil and acrylic paintings in his studio in West London. Omar won the Best Of Design Award in the Houzz Awards in 2026 and 2025.
Omar's technique has been developing over the years, and mainly working with oil and acrylic paint on cotton canvas, Omar has created a signature colour palette which you can see throughout his collection.
