Description
A male silhouette stands out against a stylized urban background. The man, shirtless and wearing deep blue pants, leans against a low stone wall. His gaze is turned towards the observer. Behind him, the city unfolds in flat areas of ocher and beige colors. The shapes are simplified. The contours are sharp.
The pure blue sky overlooks architectural domes and spiers. This composition plays on marked chromatic contrasts. The influence of pop art is manifested by a graphic management of volumes. The scene captures a moment of everyday life with geometric precision. The light seems frozen, almost artificial.
This acrylic painting explores contemporary figuration. It combines a modern approach with a classic landscape. The surface treatment creates a flat relief effect. The whole thing is based on a balance between the verticality of the character and the horizontality of the platform. The final detail focuses on a bag on the ground, anchoring the scene in tangible reality.
Presentation
Michel Das, is a French contemporary painter whose current pictorial expression fits into pop art. The sensitivities of Africa and the subtleties of the Far East outname in its very personal style which is very often influenced by its multiple journeys around the world.
In the mid -1980s, at the dawn of his artistic career, Michel Das recognized himself in impressionism; But he quickly evolves towards bad painting because he still considers his ability to draw. Consequently, his work will evolve to combine fauvism, free figuration and
Pop Art. Later, in 2007, the painter turned an additional page and turned to a new style, grabbing the "playmobil" figurines which, he believes, "are the symbols of excessive globalization, physical and intellectual cloning.
