There is a sacred stillness in the act of "considering."
In this piece, I wanted to capture the parallel between a flower reaching its peak and a soul deep in reflection. The bold textures and warm, golden tones celebrate the beauty of our design—reminding us that even in our quietest, most private moments of thought, we are growing.
We often carry the weight of the world in our minds, but the lily reminds us of a different way to live. It doesn't strive, yet it is clothed in splendor. "In Bloom, In Thought" is an invitation to let go of the noise and rest in the beauty of the present moment.
Presentation
Utubor Shadrach Melvin in Nigerian visual artist. He uses the human figure to explore spirituality, emotion, and ideas around gender and identity. Through expressive brushstrokes, bold colour, and movement, he creates figures carrying tension, silence, and inner presence rather than perfection, inviting viewers into familiar but unspoken human experiences.
He holds a National Diploma in General Art and a Higher National Diploma in Painting from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, and was mentored by Nigerian contemporary painter and draughtsman Edosa Oguigo. His work sits between emotion, spirituality, and form, inviting viewers into familiar but unspoken human experiences.
