Description
The artist captures a moment of summer relaxation through a clean composition. The gaze overlooks a swimming scene where blue dominates the space.
The sky and the water merge in a uniform turquoise shade. A few minimalist silhouettes punctuate the liquid surface.
A red buoy brings a touch of bright color to the center of the image. The figures seem to float, suspended between the calm of the sea and the white foam of the shore.
The bottom of the painting opens up to a beach of saturated orange. This strong chromatic contrast emphasizes the boundary between land and sea.
The pictorial approach tends towards abstraction. The forms are simplified to prioritize the balance of colored masses.
Acrylic is applied with a visible texture that gives relief to the surface. This contemporary painting plays on the serenity of a seascape viewed from the sky.
Presentation
Jean-Philippe Berger is a French artist born in 1968 in Dijon. After working in the field of Research and Innovation, he has devoted himself fully to contemporary art since 2007, the year he founded the Open Art Galerie. A gallery bringing together around thirty artists presenting varied works.
Jean-Philippe Berger's initial approach was based on mixed media work combining collages, acrylic paint and spray stencils.
His works revisit icons of popular culture and art history: superheroes , cinema figures or timeless myths intertwine to create new visual narratives. Torn posters, torn photos and graphic elements are meticulously assembled to compose scenes at the crossroads of Pop Art and Street Art.
The artist invites the viewer to dive into a vibrant universe where every detail tells a story, between homage and reinterpretation.
Over the years, his work tends more and more towards abstraction. The figurative elements that appear in the painting are the starting point for an abstract composition where the balance of shapes and colors is at the center of his research.
