Breathing with the Ocean, 2026

Barbara Schaumann

A vibrant sanctuary opens toward the horizon. This oil painting captures a serene interior where architecture meets the wild energy of the coast. Bold pinks and deep purples dominate the room. They create a rhythmic contrast with the brilliant blue of the sea. The composition blends geometric precision with organic fluidity. Light floods the space. It casts sharp, colorful shadows across the floor.
The artist brings a dancer's sensibility to the canvas. Every line feels choreographed. The arrangement of the furniture suggests a quiet pause. Outside, the waves roll in white crests under a clear sky. Palm leaves frame the view. They add a touch of tropical warmth to the structured setting. This artwork explores the boundary between shelter and nature. It balances the stillness of a modern lounge with the eternal motion of the tide. The perspective draws the eye toward a distant island. This focal point anchors the scene in a dreamlike atmosphere. The use of saturated hues transforms a simple seascape into an emotional experience. Precision in the architectural lines meets the soft blending of the clouds. Each brushstroke reinforces a sense of luxury and peace.

Barbara Schaumann's latest collection brings together traditional oil painting with, in some works, delicate stitching to create vibrant, textured pieces. Inspired by the relaxed feeling of tropical holidays, these works invite you to slow down — to escape into moments of warmth, ease, and quiet longing.

With bold colours, soft light, and breezy compositions, the paintings capture the laid-back rhythm of holiday life. Where present, subtle thread details are carefully incorporated into the canvas, highlighting small elements and adding a tactile layer to the work — bringing intimacy and depth without overpowering the calm, open feel of each piece.
