Description
A childhood scene is set on a support of raw wood. Two young boys are active on a raft. One, standing, deploys a white sail that catches the light. The other rests, calm, observing the horizon.
The work in acrylic superimposes the layers with precision. The neutral and earthy tones blend into the natural grain of the wood. This alliance between organic material and paint creates a tactile relief.
The influence of street art brings spontaneity to the brushstroke. The composition favors the authenticity of the shared moment. The contrast between the brilliant white of the sail and the dark tones of the silhouettes structures the space.
The posture of the bodies evokes complicity and freedom. The gaze is directed forward, suggesting an imaginary journey. Each brushstroke emphasizes the fragility and strength of the instant. The whole ends with a graphic rendering where the wood becomes an integral part of the marine landscape.

Véronique Baleste, a native of the Bassin d’Arcachon, is an artist whose career is marked by a deep quest for meaning and expression. After studying sociology and a career in teaching, she allowed a long-buried passion to emerge: painting. For sixteen years, this practice has become a vital necessity for her, an intimate language, a way of feeling and celebrating life in all its richness.

A free and lively techniqueAcrylic is her ally. Its fast drying time allows her to work in successive layers, to superimpose materials, to give way to instinct. She mixes in stencils, collages, textures, to enrich her paintings with a tactile and vibrant dimension.

Writing as an inner voiceText has imposed itself in her canvases as a parallel voice. First through quotations, then through her own words, it becomes a breath, a whisper, a scream. It adds a layer of meaning, an inner voice that prolongs the pictorial gesture.
