Description
Art manifests itself here through a delicate assembly of textures and pigments. This abstract portrait plays on the fragmentation of the face. Washes of watercolor mix with cut-out elements to reconstruct an ambiguous expression.
The composition is structured around a palette of warm tones. Pink and ochre dominate the upper part, while a green and yellow background anchors the scene.
The black line, precise and nervous, draws a melancholic gaze. It structures the face in opposition to the blurred areas of the painting.
The use of collage brings a tactile relief. The superimposed paper fragments create visual depth and rhythm the reading of the image.
This piece, made in 1998, testifies to a formal research on the deconstruction of the subject. The contrast between the rigor of the drawing and the fluidity of the water defines the balance of the composition.
The work is presented under a white mat board and framed by a sober black stretcher.

Upon his release from the Saintes prison in 1996, Edgardo goes back to Uruguay. He entrusted the works created in prison to the prison's assistant.
1st prize in engraving at the Batuz foundation in 1999.
It was in 2002 that I met Edgardo Flores, through his lawyer. We decided to dedicate a retrospective to him, with all of his work.
This exhibition will be a great moment, a beautiful meeting between a true artist, and many amateurs or collectors who will have a real crush for his work!
