Description
The gesture guides the material. This abstract composition explores the dialogue between earth and water. The artist works here through successive layers. The hand replaces the brush to sculpt the surface. Superimposed glazes create an organic depth.
Light becomes the central element. It bursts forth like a white cascade through brown and earthy tones. Golden flecks punctuate the canvas. They bring a precious relief and capture the gaze.
The movement evokes a natural landscape in mutation. One can discern rocky flows or aquatic currents. The balance rests on the contrast between the shaded areas and the clarity of the center.
This acrylic painting is situated at the frontier of elements. It is inspired by the fluidity of Asian arts. The density of the textures dialogues with the lightness of the luminous areas. The whole forms a dreamlike vision where form is born from improvisation. The final rendering stabilizes on a play of volumes and blurred perspectives.
Presentation
As an abstract, dreamlike painter, I have taught art in one of my studios, through a charity, and also at
a higher education college specialising in web and design to students. I am a recipient of the Arts, Sciences and Letters medal. I have exhibited at art fairs (both national and international), in galleries and in museums. My acrylic painting is based on conveying an emotion.
Each time, it is a blank page. I first apply my materials in a random manner. I prepare my colours and devise a focal point of light. From there emerges a gestural approach that I execute mainly with my hands through the layering of glazes. And that is when a cascade of light comes into play, bringing my work to the fore. Depending on the effects I have created, I visualise a path to follow, and from there the creative process unfolds. Perspective, form, volume and the adjustment of the light's angle all come into play. Without light, my work would not exist. I never know in advance what I'm going to create. That's how I discover my painting as it takes shape. It lies between earth, water and the elements, as in Asian art. There is always water in my work.
