Description
Korean pigment with four layers on Hanji Korean traditional paper
A serene atmosphere envelops this composition. The palette is subdued. Cool blue tones dominate the space. A delicate branch of cherry blossoms reaches in from the left. The petals are pale. They float like soft whispers against the vast sky. A slender crescent moon lingers in the upper right. Its presence is ghostly.
The artist uses pencil on paper to achieve a grainy, tactile quality. Every stroke is precise yet gentle. The composition breathes. There is a profound sense of stillness here. This artwork evokes a meditative state. It captures a fleeting moment of nocturnal peace. The balance between the organic floral forms and the empty void suggests a quiet introspection. It is an invitation to slow down. The light is diffused. It feels as though the scene is emerging from a dream. Tiny fragments of petals drift downward. They create a rhythmic descent across the blue expanse. This visual poetry emphasizes the ephemeral nature of spring. The subtle gradients of color enhance the depth of the evening air. The focus remains on the harmony between nature and silence.
Presentation
Lea Jeong is Korean artist born in 1982 who lives and works in Seoul, South Korea. Her newest series The Immovable Mind is about a meditative body of work that visually explores the journey of returning to one's true inner center. Using the lotus as its central symbol, the series reflects a state of moving forward at one's own pace, guided solely by inner light, undisturbed by external noise or the gaze of others. During the process of creating these works, she found herself shaken by other expectations and questions about the time her work required. Through this experience, she comes to realize the profound importance of staying centered and honoring her own rhythm. In the Inner Light oldest series, she incorporates gold leaf to symbolize the innate light and wisdom that reside within all of us. When the mind becomes still through meditation, we rediscover this radiance. It is a quiet realization that we have always been, and will always be, whole and luminous.
