Description
A vibrant exploration of botanical beauty. This artwork captures a dense bouquet arranged in a clear glass vase. The composition pulses with energy. Warm yellows and deep magentas contrast against lush green foliage. Each petal is rendered with precise observation and spirited brushwork. The flowers sit atop a dark, minimalist surface. This solid base anchors the composition. Behind the floral arrangement, a rhythmic geometric pattern unfolds. Pastel triangles creates a kaleidoscopic backdrop. This structured grid plays against the organic curves of the stems. The interplay between the rigid background and the fluid plants creates a dynamic tension. It transforms a classic still life into a modern study of space and color. The light reflects softly through the glass water. The palette remains bright and optimistic. Every stroke celebrates a fleeting moment of natural splendor. The final result is a balanced harmony of form and pigment.
Presentation
Michelle Taube was born in Greater Manchester, England. She graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2004 with a degree in Illustration with animation, where she specialised in watercolour painting. She then spent many years teaching Art and Design in schools and colleges. Michelle continued to produce and sell her own work, winning the IJYA young artist of the year in 2005 and exhibiting in and around Manchester and London.
After finishing teaching, Michelle exhibited in The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2024 and took part in the art on a postcard exhibition, making it to the final selection of 85 artists. She exhibits around the country with the artist collective ‘A Small Space’ and sells work with the prestigious Whitworth Art Gallery and is now delighted be part of the shop Salford Art Museum. She has exhibited at Bury Art Museum, Tarpey Gallery, Sale Waterside Arts Centre and The Other Art Fair in Shoreditch to name a few.
Michelle works with oil paints and her ‘flower collection’ has seen a shift in her painting practice. Having always been interested in colour and observational painting and drawing, this new body of work homes in on these two elements. The act of painting flowers has given her more freedom within the brushstrokes, whilst still allowing her to record the detail within the objects.
Michelle loves to experiment with pattern and is currently exploring the relationship between the flowers and the background behind them. She plays with composition, moving the objects and allowing the viewer to reconsider the space entirely. Her paintings encapsulate a vase of flowers in a moment in time, allowing their beauty to live on forever in her work.
