Description
A deep gaze guides the reading of this composition. The face of a woman blends into a dense urban landscape.
The features of the portrait intertwine with the architectures of skyscrapers. The city becomes a second skin.
The artist plays with marked contrasts of light. A golden glow illuminates the center of the face, evoking a sunset between the buildings.
The technique superimposes the planes with precision. The geometric lines of the buildings structure the skin and the cheeks.
The red lips bring a strong chromatic focal point against the ochre and gray tones of the concrete.
This fusion between the human and the city questions our connection to the urban space. The portrait becomes a geographical emotional map.
The composition balances between the realism of the gaze and the abstraction of the architectural structures.
The final rendering is distinguished by meticulous work on reflections and transparencies.
The whole is presented in a dark and classic frame that emphasizes the internal luminosity of the canvas.
Presentation
Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1956, Marius Zabin currently resides in France.
From a very young age, Zabin began painting and drawing. After graduating from general secondary school, he entered the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied art conservation. However, his passion remained primarily for painting and drawing. At the age of 25, after four years of study, the difficult political situation in his country forced him to emigrate to France. This was a critical period, and the artist needed to support himself; he therefore accepted a position as a conservator and restorer of paintings. This path he took provided him with invaluable knowledge and exceptional expertise. This occupation did not prevent him from painting and exhibiting his work simultaneously.
In his paintings, Zabin emphasizes light and atmosphere, without neglecting detail. He creates spontaneously, which gives his paintings freshness and authenticity. Depending on the subject, he likes to give more importance to a particular element, whether it be water, light, or the environment.
Since 1978, he has participated in a large number of exhibitions in Europe, Japan and the United States.
