Description
The Circle as a Field of Energy
With this monumental work, Achao continues his exploration of the motif as a true visual language. Inscribed within a square, the circle structures the composition, creating a space with neither beginning nor end, inviting the viewer's gaze to move freely.
The gold background functions as a field of light, revealing the presence of the circular form rather than merely decorating it. Within it, a multitude of curved shapes unfolds according to an organic logic, never depicting any identifiable object. The vegetal motifs of Achao's earlier series remain as traces of memory, transformed into autonomous signs.
Dominated by warm orange-red tones, the palette is enlivened by turquoise blues, soft greens, yellows and violets that animate the surface. Viewed up close, the painting reveals the traces of stencil work, subtle abrasions and variations in the pigment across the canvas, continually renewing the viewer's perception.
Through this work, Achao affirms a vision in which colour becomes rhythm, matter becomes space, and the painting evolves as an autonomous organism, balanced between repetition, variation and the movement of the eye.

The artistic universe of Achao, a French artist, invites you to a deep contemplation and serenity. His works stand out through a juxtaposition of transparent motifs that create blur effects, encouraging a certain introspection. The first is inspired by Henri Matisse's cut-out papers, where color and form intertwine to create a graceful dance. The second category pays homage to the bas-reliefs of the Dhamek Stupa in Sarnath, an iconic Buddhist site in northern India. Here, the profusion of organic motifs infuses a deep spirituality. Finally, Achao explores the enchanting entanglement of bubbles, transforming them into an infinite network of lines that enhances the immersive quality of his large-format paintings. Color plays a central role in Achao's works. Each color palette is meticulously crafted to resonate with the viewer's emotions, creating an atmosphere that encourages tranquility and joy. The bold use of color not only captivates the eye but also evokes a sense of harmony and balance. The palette ranges from serene pastels to more vibrant tones.
Achao regularly exhibits in France, Belgium, and Italy, fostering an intimate dialogue with the spaces and audiences. His paintings have traveled to iconic venues such as the Institut français Centre Saint-Louis in Rome and the Angelica Gallery. A monographic exhibition was dedicated to him in the rotunda of the Saint-Paul campus of the Catholic University of Lyon (UCLy). He has also exhibited at the Halles Saint-Géry in the center of Brussels. Achao's paintings are presented on unstretched canvas. A suspension system is integrated into the upper part of the canvas. This metal system, slid into a sleeve, conceals the nails or screws used for hanging. You may also choose to frame the painting or mount it on a stretcher.
