Description
The image captures a cyclic and hypnotic movement. The gaze plunges into a tunnel of light where shades of deep blue and warm ochre mingle. The geometric structure guides the vision towards a dark and mysterious center.
The work on perspective creates a sensation of aspiration. Bright points, like stars or urban reflections, punctuate the composition. They rhythmize the space and bring a changing luminosity to the whole.
The technique suggests a striking speed. The lines intertwine to form a chromatic vortex. This composition plays on the contrasts between the darkness of the core and the brilliance of the peripheries.
The balance of colors evokes a nocturnal and electric atmosphere. Each stroke reinforces the fluidity of the circular movement. The whole is presented in a dark and sober frame that emphasizes the depth of the visual field.
Presentation
Jack Gage is a painter born in 1946 in Boston.
he has a very physical approach to the canvas. Painting allows him to express more instinctive and suggested work, like a freeze frame. The artist's work asserts itself in opposition to the void and in reaction to the static world.
Over time, his work evolved towards a figurative and precise style for the shapes of "Harlequin" characters.
