Description
"Sailing Day" explores the seascape through a gestural and expressive approach to abstraction. The familiar imagery of sailboats and open water becomes a framework for investigating movement, light, and the shifting relationship between color and form.
Bold brushstrokes and vibrant tones create a dynamic surface in which the sea, sky, and sails appear to dissolve into one another. Drawing from the expressive qualities of Neo-Impressionism and Expressionism, the work moves between recognizable imagery and abstraction, emphasizing the physicality of paint and the immediacy of the artist's gesture.
Rather than offering a literal depiction of the maritime landscape, "Sailing Day" evokes the sensation of being immersed in it—the changing rhythm of the water, the movement of wind, and the fleeting effects of light. The sailboats provide a subtle human presence within an expansive composition, introducing a sense of direction, openness, and quiet movement.
