Les vents contraires, 2026

Flavien Couche   Emerging artists

This 2026 acrylic composition explores a balance between geometry and figuration. The eye is first drawn to a pale blue profile, whose thoughtful posture suggests deep introspection. Red and black lines precisely segment the space.
The artist composes their image like an architectural puzzle. Rectangular shapes and cylindrical segments structure the scene. A marked contrast establishes itself between the softness of the face and the rigor of the graphic elements.
The hands, rendered in a muted green tone, anchor the figure in a physical dimension while maintaining a stylized appearance. A subtle color palette unites the pastel hues with the beige of the background.
The influence of surrealism is manifested in the unusual arrangement of volumes. Each element seems to float in a suspended space, creating controlled visual tension. This approach transforms the portrait into a formal study on structure and void.
The final rendering is distinguished by the sharpness of the contours and the flatness of the color blocks. A series of aligned squares crowns the upper part of the canvas.
