The Light We Carry, 2026

Olesia Miftahova

Series: Older than Memory
173 × 104 × 3 cm when stretched

The Light We Carry is part of the series Older than Memory, which explores the experience of moving through difficult periods and finding the strength to continue.

A woman holds a light above those who walk beside her. It is a simple gesture, but one that carries the heart of the painting: sometimes hope is something we carry for one another.

The light becomes a symbol of support, direction and the possibility of moving forward. The figures are reduced to essential forms, allowing the gesture itself to remain at the centre of the work.

The rich colours and large format give the painting a strong presence in a space. It can work particularly well within a contemporary interior, where its colour, scale and symbolism can become an important part of the atmosphere rather than simply an image on the wall.

For a collector, The Light We Carry offers both visual presence and a deeper personal meaning — a work to live with and return to over time.

The painting is created in acrylic on canvas. It is currently unstretched and measures 183 × 114 cm. It will be shipped rolled in a protective tube. Once professionally stretched, the finished artwork will measure approximately 173 × 104 × 3 cm. It can also be framed according to the collector's preference. Shipped in roll.
