Description
In a light green space, among tall plants, the Goddess stands immersed in the living fabric of nature. In one hand, she holds a small cloud above her head, from which rain pours, as if creating her own stream of water. With the other hand, she covers her body, maintaining a boundary between openness and inner space.
The rain becomes an extension of her gesture, not an external force but something born within her hands. The water washes over her, returning her to the sensation of the body and the rhythm of the earth, where everything is interconnected and interdependent. In this work, the Goddess is not only part of nature, but enters into a dialogue with it, both receiving and generating its movement. The painting speaks of closeness to nature as a state in which care, cleansing, and life arise from within.
Presentation
Olesia Miftahova is a Ukrainian artist based in Wales, United Kingdom.
Her practice explores how time reshapes memory and how ancient narratives transform through contemporary experience. Drawing on Celtic, Slavic, and Welsh mythology, alongside biblical imagery, she reinterprets archetypes as living forms that continue to evolve across generations.
Working primarily in acrylic, Miftahova employs symbolic imagery and a minimalist visual language to explore memory, mythology, and the shifting meanings of familiar symbols.
In 2025, she presented her solo exhibitions Garden of Memory and Garden of Memories: Growing Beyond in Wales. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Greece, Switzerland, Turkey, the Philippines, and the United States, including exhibitions at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum (Kyiv), POSK Gallery (London), and the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art.
