About the Artwork
An image of unconditional protection and motherhood. The figure of the Goddess presses the child, who is her direct continuation, to her chest, creating a safe space — a sanctuary from the entire outside world. The figures on either side act as guardians of this moment, turning the scene into an eternal symbol of preserving life. This painting belongs to the artist's new 2026 series, Older than Memory, which continues her exploration of memory and symbolic imagery through new visual forms.

The canvas is currently unstretched and will be shipped rolled in a protective tube. The edges are painted and professional stretching margins are included, allowing the work to be beautifully displayed either with or without a frame once stretched.

Presentation
Olesia Miftahova is a Ukrainian artist based in Wales, United Kingdom.
Her practice explores how time reshapes memory and how ancient narratives transform through contemporary experience. Drawing on Celtic, Slavic, and Welsh mythology, alongside biblical imagery, she reinterprets archetypes as living forms that continue to evolve across generations.
Working primarily in acrylic, Miftahova employs symbolic imagery and a minimalist visual language to explore memory, mythology, and the shifting meanings of familiar symbols.
In 2025, she presented her solo exhibitions Garden of Memory and Garden of Memories: Growing Beyond in Wales. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Greece, Switzerland, Turkey, the Philippines, and the United States, including exhibitions at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum (Kyiv), POSK Gallery (London), and the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art.
