The Lady Plays Cards, 2015

Viktor Konotopsky

S1855

Oil painting The Lady Plays Cards Victor Konotopsky is a bold figurative composition that combines the tradition of the reclining nude with a modern, decorative visual language. The female figure stretches across a dark surface, while playing cards placed nearby introduce a subtle narrative element and a sense of mystery. Konotopsky demonstrates impressive artistic mastery through confident contour lines, simplified forms, and a carefully controlled balance of color and space. The pale figure stands in striking contrast to the deep black foreground and textured red background, giving the composition strong graphic impact. Subtle lilac, pink, and gray modeling adds volume to the body while preserving the painting's stylized character. The artist skillfully unites expressive drawing with restrained detail, creating a work that feels both intimate and monumental. This original oil painting is an excellent choice for collectors of figurative art, nude painting, contemporary realism, modern portraiture, expressive interiors, and distinctive fine art.
