Description
The gaze rises to the white dome that dominates the landscape. This oil composition captures the essence of the Parisian view. The city unfolds in a superposition of grey rooftops and light facades.
The brush structures the space with precision. The architectural masses interlock to create a natural depth. A marked contrast opposes the urban density to the softness of the sky.
The vegetation brings an organic breath to the center of the canvas. The dark green emphasizes the verticality of the relief. The light, diffuse and serene, envelops the buildings in a calm atmosphere.
The artist explores here the perception of architecture and the silence of the heights. The work on the shades of grey reveals a rigorous technical mastery. Each architectural detail contributes to the harmonious balance of the scene.
The canvas ends with a play of perspectives where geometric lines guide the eye towards the horizon. The whole rests on a sober and elegant palette.
Presentation
Marie-France Garrigues was born in Montauban, the city of Ingres and Bourdelle. During her teenage years, she studied drawing in the workshop of sculptor Flavio de Faveri. These years allowed her to quickly express herself through this art. At the same time, scientific studies led her to live in French Polynesia, where she worked as an investment operations manager in the building sector for the Territory of French Polynesia, and later as a project manager for the President.
Upon returning to mainland France in the 2000s, she diversified her artistic techniques, dedicating herself primarily to oil painting after studying this medium at the Beaux-Arts in Paris with Gilles Marey.
In 2010, painting became her sole activity, and she participated in various solo and group exhibitions in France and internationally, sharing her art worldwide.
In 2018, she was named a Member of the Société des Artistes Français; in 2019, a Member of the Taylor Foundation; in 2022, a Member of the Salon Violet; and in 2024, a Member of the Salon d'Automne.
The city inspires her, and she enjoys exploring architecture and its diverse perceptions: capturing freedom, modernity, the passage of time, light, solitude, and silence.
